productrices de spermatozo\u00efdes, dans le cadre d\u2019un essai clinique visant \u00e0 restaurer la fertilit\u00e9 chez de jeunes survivants masculins du cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 l\u2019\u00e2ge de 11 ans, le jeune gar\u00e7on a commenc\u00e9 une chimioth\u00e9rapie pour un cancer des os, un traitement qui comporte un risque de nuire \u00e0 la fertilit\u00e9 future.<\/p>\n<p>Ses parents l\u2019ont inscrit \u00e0 l\u2019essai au centre m\u00e9dical de l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Pittsburgh, o\u00f9 des chercheurs congelaient du tissu testiculaire de jeunes gar\u00e7ons atteints de cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Bien que le tissu testiculaire immature ne produise pas encore de spermatozo\u00efdes, il contient des cellules souches ayant le potentiel de le faire, ce qui offre un espoir pour la fertilit\u00e9 future chez les jeunes survivants du cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Le patient est le premier participant \u00e0 l\u2019essai \u00e0 revenir \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e2ge adulte pour voir si sa fertilit\u00e9 pourrait potentiellement \u00eatre restaur\u00e9e, bien qu\u2019il soit probable que m\u00eame si une petite quantit\u00e9 de spermatozo\u00efdes pouvait \u00eatre g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9e, la technologie de procr\u00e9ation assist\u00e9e serait n\u00e9cessaire pour obtenir une grossesse.<\/p>\n<p>Quoi qu\u2019il en soit, les choix que ses parents ont faits en son nom lorsqu\u2019il \u00e9tait enfant semblent lui avoir donn\u00e9 au moins une occasion potentielle de devenir lui-m\u00eame p\u00e8re \u00e0 l\u2019avenir.<\/p>\n<p>Bien que cette \u00e9tude se soit
