Nutrition Matters for Fertility
What you eat can support both your reproductive health and mental wellbeing. A balanced diet helps regulate hormones, supports egg and sperm quality, and stabilises blood sugar. Key nutrients for fertility include folate, vitamin D, zinc, selenium, and omega-3s.
Remember, every fertility journey is unique. Small, consistent changes can make a meaningful difference. If you’re struggling, reach out for support – from your clinic, a fertility nutritionist, or local support networks. Taking care of your nutrition is a way of caring for your body and mind, and supporting your fertility along the way.

Simple steps to support your fertility
- Include a source of protein at every meal (lean meat, eggs, fish, beans, or yoghurt).
- Eat a rainbow of vegetables and fruits to boost vitamins, minerals, fibre, and antioxidants.
- Add healthy fats like avocado, olive oil, and nuts.
- Focus on whole grains and fibre to support steady energy and gut health.
- Stay hydrated and aim for regular, nourishing meals.

Patient Story
IVF with Frozen Embryo
Transfer after failed cycle elsewhere
				Armeen, 30, from UAE, married
Armeen and her husband, from Pakistan but living in the Middle East, enquired about IVF having already had a failed cycle elsewhere.
They originally chose treatment in Saudi Arabia then moved to UAE and we were able to accommodate the change.

Monitoring for the treatment cycle was done at our partner clinic in Dubai and Armeen had egg retrieval at the same clinic, where all of her embryos were frozen.
Two months later frozen embryo transfer was performed and she subsequently had a positive pregnancy test.
"I’m so glad that my husband and I reached out to NOW-fertility. The best thing about them was their empathy. Everyone on the team made us feel heard and understood our concerns and addressed them well. They were all there to navigate me throughout the process from IVF to FET. Thank you everyone for making this journey easy for us!."

															Ask the Experts
What questions should I ask my consultant before I start IVF?

Here are a few key questions for your doctor that you can take with you:
- Based on our medical history, why do you think IVF is the right next step for us?
- What treatment options do you recommend, and why are they a good fit?
- What risks or challenges should we be aware of from the start?
- What side effects might I expect from hormone injections, and how can I prepare mentally, emotionally and physically?
- What can we do right now around lifestyle, nutrition, supplements, emotional or holistic support to give ourselves the best chance?

Take a notebook, and if you’re going with a partner, take turns asking questions. And don’t hesitate to say, “Can you explain that again?”.
This is your journey, and you deserve to feel informed, supported and heard.

 Fertility Tests: What to know
Tubal Patency Testing
If you’ve been trying to conceive and it hasn’t happened yet, one possible reason could be a blockage in your fallopian tubes. These tubes connect your ovaries to your uterus, and if they’re blocked, the egg and sperm can’t meet.
Tubal patency tests are simple procedures that help check if your fallopian tubes are open and working properly. Here are the most common types:

															- HyCoSy (Hysterosalpingo-Contrast Sonography): This is an ultrasound test that uses a contrast fluid to see if the tubes are clear. It’s quick, doesn’t require anaesthetic, and gives instant results.
- HSG (Hysterosalpingogram): This test uses an X-ray and a special dye to show the shape of your uterus and whether your tubes are open.
- Laparoscopy with Chromopertubation: This is a more detailed test done under anaesthetic. A small camera is inserted through a tiny incision in your lower abdomen, and a dye is used to check if it flows through the tubes.
All these tests work in a similar way – a dye or fluid is gently introduced into the uterus to see if it moves through the fallopian tubes.
Your doctor then watches the flow on an ultrasound or X-ray, or directly with a camera during laparoscopy.
These tests can give helpful answers about your fertility and guide the next steps on your journey to pregnancy.
