Determining what is best for you during fertility treatment is a very personal process, and is likely to involve a combination of clinical guidance, self-awareness, and having robust support systems in place.
Clinical Guidance
Your chosen fertility specialist is responsible for helping you to identify the cause of your fertility issues and the potential treatment options, then guiding you to make an informed decision about these. Once your treatment starts you need to be able to rely on your specialist to prescribe the most appropriate medications protocol for you, to give you the best possible chance of success. It is essential therefore that you choose a fertility specialist who you feel comfortable with and that you have confidence in their clinical judgement.
Self-Awareness
Self-awareness in fertility treatment means having realistic goals and expectations. It is also about recognising whether you are physically, emotionally and financially ready to go ahead, or when the time is right to take a break in treatment. In some cases you should also be aware that you may need to consider alternative options, such as the use of donor eggs or sperm, in order to achieve the family that you want.
Support
Fertility treatment can be demanding both physically and emotionally. It can be helpful to include close friends and family in discussions about what you are going through, so that they can support you as best they can. Alternatively you might prefer to seek support from a professional fertility coach or counsellor.
NOW-fertility
As a NOW-fertility patient you will have a dedicated fertility consultant, nurse and care coordinator looking after you throughout your journey. Your consultant will guide you to make the best choices about the type of treatment you have and which of our partner clinics to choose, and will create a personalised medications protocol for you, taking into account your medical and fertility history. Your nurse and care coordinator will help and support you at each step, and we also work with fertility coaches and counsellors who can provide additional support wherever needed.
