Within NOW-fertility we work closely with our own nursing and care coordinator teams, and in order to meet the needs of our patients, more than one nurse will sometimes be involved with a patient so that they can provide a greater level of support at all times.
It is fulfilling on a personal level to have another nurse colleague involved with the patient’s care, because it allows our team to learn from each other and become closer as colleagues. In terms of tasks we organise everything between ourselves so that we are always available to our patients and partners.
As my colleague Jessica said, NOW-fertility prides itself on teamwork. I had the honour of starting my own journey as a NOW-fertility nurse working alongside my colleague with whom I supported a patient undergoing IVF treatment for gender selection, and later on frozen embryo transfer at our partner clinic in Texas.
Upon the patient starting treatment, the medical team at our partner clinic were informed and all blood tests and ultrasound scan reports done were sent securely after being reviewed by our own fertility consultant, along with a treatment plan that was updated as the patient progressed through the IVF treatment.
Our patient was kept informed and supported on a daily basis, and once she was ready to travel to Texas she was given all the information needed on arrival at the clinic.
She was taken care of by a team of fertility specialists who aimed to provide the best possible healthcare with due regard for her interests, respecting her wishes and following the latest guidance from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
The positive pregnancy test at the end of the journey filled us all with joy and satisfaction to have taken part in this couple’s journey towards parenthood.
