Recent British Medical Journal (BMJ) research shows that online searches for digital health products rose by a significant 343% during lockdown.
Alongside a surging interest in health apps, the pandemic has accelerated a shift to online consultations – including for fertility practices – with clinics seeing an increase in patients asking for virtual IVF consultations, which have fast become standard practice.
Having a virtual experience certainly does not appear to be diminishing the quality of care, or amount of information shared, and has a number of additional benefits.
When NOW-fertility launches in Spring 2022, this acceleration will increase as it will provide a platform for a full spectrum of digital IVF consultations. We will match each patients’ particular needs and requirements to the best clinic with expertise and experience in the specific fertility therapeutic needed.
By providing digital access to the best fertility clinics we will enable patients to be managed remotely by centres of excellence, whilst any necessary monitoring, investigations and blood tests can be carried out closer to home or work in satellite clinics. This not only helps to reduce stress, but also the financial burden of taking time off work. These clinics can also exchange information using secure cloud-based systems, which also enables easy storage and access of medical records.
This technological approach will also enable us to offer guaranteed response times to patient queries, which will mean greater peace-of-mind and fewer stressful situations.
An added benefit is that digital consultations can also be recorded with patient’s consent, and listened to again at a later stage, or shared with a partner to ensure they are fully kept in the loop.
Remote monitoring is an effective approach as long as the available platforms is secure and easy to access. For more information about what NOW-fertility will offer, do contact us.
