Is sperm freezing right for me?
Sperm freezing is recommended in these circumstances:
- Before undergoing cancer treatment or other surgical/medical treatment which could affect fertility potential.
- You have a medical condition that could affect your fertility later in life.
- Before undergoing a vasectomy.
- Before IVF treatment if there is a possibility that a fresh sample won’t be available.
- You have been found to have a low sperm count which could decrease further.
- You are planning to be a sperm donor.
- You have a high risk occupation which could result in fertility-affecting injury.
- You plan to undergo gender transition.
How does sperm freezing work with NOW-fertility?
Your Fertility Care Coordinator will:
Liaise with the chosen partner clinic to:
- Book a consultation with the Andrologist/Urologist.
- Arrange for the necessary serology tests.
- Schedule semen analysis tests and ensure that the results are shared with you.
Based on the semen analysis results:
- If satisfactory sperm parameters, we organise a date for sperm freezing and storage. You only need to travel to the chosen clinic for a short time once you are ready for this stage.
