During fertility treatment, different medications will be given to the patient and we understand that it might seem a little daunting, especially for patients without any medical background.
Fertility drugs play a large role in the treatment and the majority of them will be self-administrated, at home, by the patient.
We believe that doing personalised medication educational sessions with your fertility nurse can help make the process easier, safer and less stressful.
By offering one on one teaching time with your nurse and additional resources such as videos, we aim to:
- reduce any feelings of anxiety related to self-administrating medication and make the patient feel more comfortable with medical material such as needles and syringes
- make sure the correct storage conditions for each medication at home are respected
- make sure the timings of administrations are respected
- help the patient understand the role of their medication and how it works so we can potentially prevent or reduce any side effects
- make sure the patients feel supported enough throughout their fertility journey
- give the patient the knowledge they will need to play an active role in their own treatment
Through those individual instructions, patients learn to self-administer properly, consistently and safely.
The more they know, the less anxious they will feel, and this will ultimately help on the road to achieving a successful treatment.
