Subfertility and infertility are expressions that are sometimes used interchangeably when talking about fertility potential, but in fact they have differing definitions and require different clinical approaches.
An individual or couple diagnosed as infertile will not be able to conceive without medical assistance, and there could be multiple reasons for this. On the other hand subfertility means having less than optimal fertility but a spontaneous pregnancy may still be possible. Similarly primary infertility and secondary infertility differ from each other.
In this podcast episode recorded with Gulf News, NOW-fertility founder Luciano Nardo discusses the diagnoses in more detail and describes the recommended investigations and treatment options for each situation.
